THE CALLING INSIDE THE WORLD OF NONPROFIT HEROES

I’m Richard Schreiber, and my journey of service began with lessons from my parents, who emphasized compassion and daily acts of kindness. Growing up in New York, these values became the foundation of my life. Marrying Maggie, who also values service, strengthened our commitment. Our daughter autism diagnosis at seven intensified our mission to support families and create a legacy of kindness and generosity. Balancing life’s light and dark, I’ve dedicated myself to helping those with autism step into the light. Faith has been crucial at every step, countering fear and reinforcing our belief that life happens for us, not to us. Gratitude plays a vital role; it dispels negativity and fosters love and positive energy. This is a principle I instill in my daughter daily, teaching her to appreciate her blessings, despite the challenges she sees in others. Our journey inspired the creation of the NYC Autism Community Group, the NYC Autism Tech Innovation and Careers Expo, and the Autism Innovation Community Foundation.
